Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro Visits Palau

PELELIU, Republic of Palau (March 1, 2024) – Republic of Palau President Surangel Whipps, Jr. and Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro lay a wreath at the 81st Infantry Division Memorial in Peleliu, in the Republic of Palau, March 1. The memorial honors members of the 81st Infantry Division who assisted the 1st Marine Division during the Battle of Peleliu in World War II. Secretary Del Toro’s visit to Palau is part of a series of strategic engagements in the Indo-Pacific to promote the protection of the maritime commons in line with his Maritime Statecraft efforts.
