OXON HILL, Md. (April 7, 2024) - An elementary-aged student inspects the miniature rocket he built before launching it at a target to demonstrate basic engineering competencies during the Sea-Air-Space Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) expo at the Gaylord National Hotel and Conference Center, Sunday. The activity was hosted by FIRE Rocket Challenge--in partnership with the U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP)--to connect young learners' proficiencies in STEM activities to elements of the real-world missions of commands like SSP. SSP is the Navy command that is responsible for the cradle-to-grave lifecycle of the submarine-launched ballistic missile system. (U.S. Navy Photo by Lt. Jennifer Bowman/Released)
