Jim Kilby, Vice Chief of Naval Operations, as he assumes all duties and responsibilities as commander from Rear Adm. Doug Verissimo, the outgoing commander of AIRLANT, during the change of command ceremony aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75). Verissimo was relieved by Brophy as the 36th commander. AIRLANT is responsible for the manning, training and equipping of six nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, five carrier air wings, five type wings, 54 aircraft squadrons, 1,200 aircraft and 52,000 officers, enlisted and civilian personnel on the east coast.
