CNO Charge of Command

The Chief of Naval Operations’ (CNO) Charge of Command serves as a guiding statement of expectations, responsibilities, and an ethos for officers entrusted with command in the United States Navy. Command remains the cornerstone of naval leadership—the point where authority, accountability, and trust converge. In releasing this Charge, the CNO underscores that command at sea and ashore is both the highest honor and the greatest responsibility an officer can assume.
