Sailors are silhouetted by the rising sun Jan. 26, 2026, as USS Chosin (CG 65) arrives at NSWC PHD for a Combat Systems Assessment Team event. Since the ship was named after the Battle of Chosin Reservoir that took place during the Korean War, the ship and crew have adopted the “War Dragon” as their unofficial mascot, with red dragons embroidered on their lids and uniform patches. In addition, the barrels of the two 5-inch guns, including the one shown here on the fo’c’sle, are painted black and decorated with a colorful dragon design. (U.S. Navy photo by Dana Rene White)
