Afghanistan Withdrawal
U.S. Central Command Public Affairs
Aug. 16, 2021 | 9:39
Airmen from the 21st Airlift Squadron prepare for a flight at Base Operations, then Airmen from the 60th Logistics Readiness Squadron and 860th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron refuel a C-17 Globemaster III, then Airmen from the 21st AS load and run through pre-flight checklists, and then take off August 16, 2021, at Travis Air Force Base, California. The U.S. Air Force, in support of the Department of Defense, moved forces into theater to facilitate the safe departure and relocation of U.S. citizens, Special Immigration Visa recipients, and vulnerable Afghan populations from Afghanistan.
