MHSRS Award Winner: LINKS Covid Study
Defense Health Agency
Sept. 30, 2024 | 1:50
From July 2023-February 2024, Naval Medical Research Unit INDO PACIFIC, Naval Medical Research Command, and Walter Reed Army Institute of Research conducted the “Long-term Immunity against Novel and Known Strains of SARS-CoV-2” (LINKS-COVID) study, the largest and most in-depth analysis regarding the need for COVID-19 boosters among active-duty personnel.
NMRTC Yokosuka, in particular the laboratory department headed by LT Ara Gutierrez and LT Sheryll Tagura, provided indispensable technical and logistical support to ensure the success of the project. NMRC Diagnostics & Surveillance Division, led by Dr. Peifang Sun and Dr. Corey Balinsky, and WRAIR B Cell Biology, led by Dr. Shelly Krebs and Dr. Kerri Lal, provided not only on-the-ground technical expertise but were critically instrumental in analyzing all the samples shipped from Japan to Silver Spring and all resultant assay data.
