Ensign Andrea Jefferson with the Expeditionary Medical Facility-M discusses daily operations at the Baton Rouge General Mid City campus after integrating with civilian medical providers in support of the Department of Defense COVID-19 response April 17, 2020. This week the BRG Mid City campus welcomed 74 Navy medical professionals to help staff two new 30-bed units and integrate with the Intensive Care Unit. The EMF-M coordinates closely with state, local, and public health authorities to ensure the well-being of their personnel and the local population. The military personnel are not intended to replace existing staff or take the roles that could be filled by team members who might be reassigned from low volume areas. They work to ease the strain of the significant patient care surge as part of the BRG Mid City family. U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, is providing military support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency to help communities in need. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Cpl. Daniel R.
