Fiesta Fiesta officially marks the start of the 11-day annual celebration featuring parades, exhibits, music, entertainment, and family-friendly fun - all benefitting local, non-profit causes. Since 1891, San Antonio has conducted Fiesta celebrations to commemorate Texas' independence from Mexico. The Army has participated since 1891. Throughout Fiesta, there are 100+ events, organized by 100+ non-profit, philanthropic organizations known as Fiesta Participating Member Organizations or PMOs. These PMOs coordinate their events with the Fiesta Commission.
