71st Civil Support Team leads Weapons of Mass Destruction exercise with SWAT teams
Joint Force Headquarters - Iowa National Guard
Sept. 19, 2024 | 3:38
The Iowa National Guard's 71st Civil Support Team hosted a large-scale training exercise for Iowa WMD SWAT teams at Camp Dodge Joint Maneuver Training Center, Johnston, Iowa, on Sept. 19-20, 2024.
The exercise featured all-day CBRN(e) classes led by experts from the 71st CST, Iowa State University's Radiological Shop, and the State Fire Marshal's Office. Tactical training included room-clearing at the shoot house, while WMD law enforcement personnel responded to simulated drug labs with role players from the Midwest Counterdrug Training Center posing as hostile threats.
The Iowa National Guard serves as a community-focused support agency, dedicated to safeguarding the state. Joint exercises with state and federal agencies reinforce the Guard's mission, ensuring readiness to respond when needed.
