Lt. j.g. Barbara Allen, Ens. Jane M. Skiles, Lt. j.g. Judith A. Neuffler, and Ens. Kathleen L. McNary were the first women assigned to flight instruction at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida, in 1973. Allen subsequently became the first woman to receive her “wings of gold.”
