A 1992 Naval Academy graduate, Cmdr. Juliane Gallina became the first woman to serve as a Naval Academy brigade commander in 1991. After serving in the Navy for 21 years and retiring as a Navy Reserve officer in 2013, Gallina then spent 10 years with the National Reconnaissance Office as a senior system engineer and program manager and later as deputy program director, and became the vice president of IBM. She currently works at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) as the associate deputy director for digital innovation.
