Chief Warrant Officer Vanderla Akaka is a single mother and a two-time breast cancer survivor. She is one of is one of eight “Pink Power Mom” recipients, a national award that seeks to highlight moms who survived breast cancer and helped their community. She was the first recipient from the military service chosen for this award.
