Capt. Elaine Collins recently served as the commander of Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 9 (2023). A 1996 NROTC Washington State University graduate, Collins served in multiple roles at sea, including aboard USS Momsen (DDG 92) as the commanding officer. Collins deployed to the Arabian Gulf in support of UN Security Council Resolutions, Operations Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. She also deployed to U.S. 7th Fleet in support of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training, and to U.S. 6th Fleet in support of Standing NATO Maritime Group Two and Operation Active Endeavor.
