Kristine Holderied

In 1984, Kristine Holderied became the first woman to graduate as valedictorian not only at the Naval Academy, but from any of the service academies. During her time as a midshipman, Holderied was also a Trident Scholar and deputy brigade commander. After leaving the Academy, Holderied worked in meteorology and weather forecasting for the Navy. She received a graduate degree from a combined MIT/Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution program.
