Capt. Jane Skiles O’Dea was one of the first six women to earn their wings as pilots in 1974. She was one of the first women qualified to pilot the C-130 and one of the first women qualified as a flight instructor. Additionally, she was the first woman naval aviator to achieve command, when she became the commanding officer of Navy Recruiting District Indianapolis.
