Rear Adm. Seiko Okano is the first woman to serve as NAVSEA program executive officer for Integrated Warfare Systems. She is responsible for managing a $5.3 billion budget to deliver combat and weapons systems to the Fleet. Prior to transferring to the engineering duty officer community, her operational tours included an assignment during Operation Iraqi Freedom where she served in Iraq, to assist with defeating radio-controlled explosive devices. She received the Society of Women Engineers Advocating Women in Engineering award in 2021 for her leadership and development of women-focused mentoring programs. She was credited with bringing Lean In Circles to the Navy.
