Lt. j.g. Marcia Villavicencio joined the Navy as an undesignated seaman and commissioned as an officer in the Navy Reserve in 2020. A self-proclaimed fitness fanatic, small business owner and Navy Reservist, she took her positive pro-fitness message to the fleet when she starred in a MyNavyHR fitness video inspiring Sailors to get moving on their own during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Villavicencio says a constant source of stability in her life has been the integration of her family life with her Navy career, something that wasn’t always an option for military members in the LGBTQI+ community. She is proud of the way she brings diversity to the Navy, just by being herself.
