Kati Garner

Claudia Garcia was named one of the most influential women in technology by Hispanic Engineer magazine in 2012 because of her support to servicemen and women and Navy civilians. She is a 1991 graduate of San Diego State University, where she studied electrical engineering. As the avionics engineering department head at Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), she expanded the organization’s science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) educational outreach to students across San Diego. Over the years, she developed educational partnerships with elementary, middle and high schools. As director of North Island’s NAVAIRs Science Enrichment Program and a member of the Hispanic Engagement Action team STEM advisory group, Claudia provided science workshops to elementary students and participated in various science and technology fairs, FIRST Robotics, shadow and career days.
