Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Mid-Atlantic will host a career fair Oct. 14 at the Chesapeake Conference Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in an effort to recruit and fill 600 career vacancies.

“This dynamic hiring initiative is key to enabling NAVFAC’s mission of supporting the fleet, says NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic Business Director Tom Barstow.  “The workload we have in support of the Navy and Marine Corps mission is on the rise and finding the right people to fill out our team is our top priority.”

NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic will use direct hiring authorities by the Department of Defense in order to quickly fill vacancies. Hiring specialists will conduct interviews during the career fair, and for qualified candidates, offer tentative job offers on site.

“We are motivated to secure the very best professionals because this ultimately means that only the best are serving the fleet,” says NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic Human Resources Director Rebecca Rowe.  “There is an incredibly accomplished talent pool out there and we want to offer them the kind of meaningful opportunities, coupled with great pay and benefits, that make up the heart of a first-rate civil service career.”

The organization is recruiting for hundreds of federal positions in a variety of professional disciplines and geographic areas to include, but not limited to: Architects, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Fire Protection, and Environmental Engineers; Construction Managers; Engineering Technicians; Community Planners; Realty Specialists: Contract Specialists; Financial Management Specialists; and Information Technology Specialists.

The command is likewise seeking to fill craftsman trade positions to include: High Voltage Electricians; Electricians; Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanics; Carpenters; Maintenance Mechanics; Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanics; Riggers, Crane Operators; Plumbers and Pipefitters.

NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic recruitment efforts are focused on the Hampton Roads area with openings at all area bases – Naval Station Norfolk; Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story and Naval Air Station in Virginia Beach; Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth; and Naval Weapons Station Yorktown.

Because the command spans the east coast from Maine to Georgia, and as far west as Illinois, applicants may also apply for opportunities in Kittery, Maine; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; Newport, Rhode Island; New London, Connecticut; Great Lakes, Illinois; Earle, New Jersey; Crane, Indiana; Havelock, North Carolina; Jacksonville, North Carolina; Albany, Georgia; Parris Island, South Carolina; and Beaufort, South Carolina.
