FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Nearly 100 Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen went on a tour of the Miami Dolphins Training Facility in Davie, Florida, during Fleet Week Port Everglades, May 2, 2018.

Service members in attendance were from the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), the littoral combat ship USS Detroit (LCS 3), and the U.S. Coast Guard cutters: USCGC Confidence (WMEC 619), USCGC Robert Yered (MPC 1104) and USCGC Willow (WLB 202).

The tour included visits to the practice fields, meeting rooms, player locker rooms and shirt signings with retired Dolphins players Chris Conlin and Shawn Woodan.

For Ensign Aldwin Joseph, from Pensacola, Florida, the tour was a fulfillment of aspirations he had growing up.

"Just to be able to come to the Dolphins facility, for me, is a dream come true," said Joseph. "Watching my favorite team growing up and then being able to come and experience where the players come every day was my lifelong dream."

Sailors who weren't lifelong fans of the Dolphins were also appreciative to see where professional football players spend most of their time.

"I'm so excited to be able to come to the Dolphins facility," said Logistics Specialist Seaman Azeire Martin, from New York City, New York. "To be able to come out here, throw the football around, tour the facility and get off the ship for a little bit is awesome. I just want to thank the Dolphins for this opportunity."

The tour was part of Fleet Week Port Everglades, which remains the signature event for Broward Navy Days. The organization plans welcoming events and shore activities for visiting Navy and Coast Guard ships and supports the activities of the U.S. Navy Southern Command and Coast Guard Station Fort Lauderdale.
