The former Undersea Integration Program Office has been renamed the Undersea Communications & Integration Program Office (PMW 770) effective Jan. 19.

The name change and associated logo update reflect the program office's efforts to provide hardware procurement and integrated communication capabilities into the undersea domain.

The new logo places a larger focus on the undersea aspect of the organization's mission and reflects the importance of the tactical grid-a network of small communications links that tie all units operating in one tactical area together regardless of agency or function. It also highlights PMW 770's role in the future of undersea communication by incorporating undersea unmanned vehicles (UUVs).

"PMW 770 provides program-of-record capability and also integrates other programs into the undersea communication domain. We produce and integrate tools that are important to the warfighter," said Capt. Michael Boone, PMW 770 program manager. "We've changed our name to better reflect our role within the undersea acquisition community."

PMW 770 delivers vital command, control, communications, computers and intelligence (C4I) capabilities to the Navy by connecting the architecture of undersea vehicles, both manned and unmanned, and mobile communication in support of Nuclear, Command, Control and Communications (NC3), to maximize joint warfighting capability. PMW 770 meets its unique and challenging mission by integrating products from partner program offices to provide C4I system-of-systems communication architectures to the warfighter. PMW 770 not only develops undersea communication systems, but also performs communication system hardware and software integration, modernization and sustainment. The program office supports both land and sea assets that play a role in undersea systems communication.
