Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point's (NHCCP) pharmacy has become the first pharmacy in the Navy to provide patients with on-demand access to prescription-specific videos through MedsOnCue.
Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point's (NHCCP) pharmacy has become the first pharmacy in the Navy to provide patients with on-demand access to prescription-specific videos through MedsOnCue.

The new MedsOnCue service strengthens the relationship between NHCCP pharmacists and patients by adding a unique, digital component to educate patients about their medicines.

MedsOnCue provides prescription information by printing QR codes on prescription labels. Patients use their smart phones to access the QR code and the prescription information is instantly at their fingertips. All medicines dispensed at NHCCP will now carry QR codes which create direct links to thousands of medication-specific videos in the MedsOnCue library.

Available in both English and Spanish, the videos provide comprehensive information on top-prescribed medications, including proper usage, expected benefits and potential side effects. This helps ensure patients understand how to take their medications safely and limit any avoidable reactions.

Patients will still receive printed prescription information with their prescriptions for now.

"We take great pride in our personal approach to patient communications," said Lt. Anthony Wyble, NHCCP Pharmacy department head. "This service helps us continue delivering a quality experience no matter when, where or how our patients choose to communicate with our pharmacy. Whether it is at our pharmacy counter or at their kitchen counter, we want to be the trusted source of information for our patients and their families."

Named after Medal of Honor recipient, Pharmacist Mate Second Class William D. Halyburton, the Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point provides high-quality patient care to more than 18,000 active-duty members and DOD beneficiaries. In addition to out-patient surgical services, NHCCP offers Medical Home Port (including family care and pediatrics), Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Orthopedics, Physical Therapy, Mental Health, Pharmacy services, Preventive Medicine, Aviation Medicine and Radiology to include MRIs.
