Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center (NAVSUP FLC) Norfolk, Naval District Washington (NDW) personnel provided vital support for the presidential inauguration ceremony, Jan. 20, in Washington, D.C.

According to Lt. Hensley Hilton, NAVSUP FLC Norfolk NDW personnel provided a logistics and watchstanding services for the event. They were responsible for providing 4,500 Meals Ready-to-Eat for military and civilian participants in the event, along with the warehousing of cots, water and honor guard instruments. They also provided six Sailors to represent supply in the Washington Navy Yard Regional Operations Center during the inauguration.

"It required a group effort to execute in all phases, working in coordination with various agencies," he explained.

Hylton added that this was the first time the individual members of the NAVSUP FLC Norfolk NDW team participated in an inauguration, providing them a unique and historic experience.

NAVSUP FLC Norfolk, one of eight fleet logistics centers under NAVSUP Global Logistics Support (GLS), provides operational logistics, business and support services to fleet, shore and industrial commands of the Navy, Coast Guard, Military Sealift Command, and other joint and allied forces. Services include contracting, regional transportation, fuel, material management, household goods movement support, postal and consolidated mail, warehousing, global logistics and husbanding, hazardous material management, and integrated logistics support.

The organization is made up of more than 6,500 military and civilian logistics professionals operating from 105 locations worldwide, providing an extensive array of integrated global logistics and contracting services to Navy, Marine Corps, joint operational units, and allied forces across all warfare enterprises.
