BEQ 2441 is a four-story, 196 bedroom facility which has not seen major renovations since it was built by the government of Japan in 1989.

"Camp Hansen's BEQ 2441 is in critical need of renovation and upgrade," said Facilities Engineering and Acquisition Division (FEAD) Camp Butler Director, Lt. Cmdr. Luke Cowley. "Major system shutdown is anticipated within a couple years if repairs and improvements are not realized. Award of this construction effort will provide our Marines with an updated, comfortable, and safe facility, improving morale and ensuring safe billeting of our Marine forces such that they are able to more fully execute their mission."

Work will include replacing all interior doors with new card-key locksets. Domestic hot and cold water lines and all plumbing fixtures will be replaced, as will all interior floor, wall, and ceiling finishes. Electrical upgrades such as new interior and exterior light fixtures, fire protection, fire alarm and mass notification systems will enhance the safety of the facility.

Work is scheduled for completion March 2018. Following these renovations, BEQ 2441 is expected to remain in service for another 20 years.

The $11,655,586 task order was awarded to NIPPO Corporation.
