The Harlem Globetrotters brought their high-flying hoops performance to Naval Station Rota Nov. 19, thrilling hundreds of service members and their families with their basketball tricks and energetic showmanship.

The internationally famous exhibition basketball team is known for their comedic performance, while they showcase an array of basketball skills and tricks throughout the game.

Naval Station Rota was the last stop in their military tour, and they performed an additional show earlier in the day because of the high demand and long wait list.

"The crowd here during the military tour is a lot more intimate," said Corey "Thunder" Law, Globetrotters forward. "We take our shows seriously, but it's just something about performing for our military. It's emotional; it means a lot for us to perform for our troops."

The two games included interactions with the audience such as musical chairs, a dance competition, and other various engaging antics.

"We like to get the crowd involved, go up into the stands and bring some kids, and connect with the crowd a little bit more," said Fatima "TNT" Lister, Globetrotters guard who joined the kids sitting courtside and took selfies. "We strive to create memories that will last a lifetime."

The Harlem Globetrotters and the World All-Stars displayed great athleticism and comical antics throughout their show, and the Globetrotters were able to pull out a close victory, winning 70-68.

The team ended their performance with a session to sign autographs and take photos with their fans.

"They put on an amazing show," said Heather Ritter, who attended the show. "There was never a dull moment. We laughed throughout the entire performance and were blown away by the talents of the Globetrotters. Amidst all the antics and abilities, 'Big G,' the 10-foot inflatable mascot, was my favorite. He stole the show with his face plants and frolics. It was so much fun!"

The unorthodox basketball team has been entertaining audiences for more than 90 years in over 100 countries, including to service members around the world through tours sponsored by Morale, Welfare, and Recreation; Navy Entertainment; and Armed Forces Entertainment.

Just as a ship performs lines of operation that provide a capability, Navy Region Europe, Africa, Southwest Asia bases perform he same eight lines of operation to provide capability to the fleet, joint and allied forces. These eight lines of operation are air operations, port operations, safety, security, housing, MWR, Fleet and Fleet and Family Services, and what is called the core -- the fuels, water, and power which keep the bases running. Through our lines of operation, our installations are force multipliers that maximize combat capability of operational units.
