The United Services Organization (USO) of Metropolitan Washington, D.C., along with Superstars from WWE visited Guardsmen assigned to the United States Navy Ceremonial Guard (USNCG) at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Dec. 13.
The United Services Organization (USO) of Metropolitan Washington, D.C., along with Superstars from WWE visited Guardsmen assigned to the United States Navy Ceremonial Guard (USNCG) at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Dec. 13.

The WWE Superstars, which include Nikki Bella, Daniel Bryan, Heath Slater, Cesaro, Rhyno and Roman Reigns, met with Guardsmen to show their support and to promote the 14th annual WWE "Tribute to the Troops" show. The WWE Superstars watched a video showcasing the work of the Ceremonial Guard, toured the building, and tried their hands at some of the skills the Sailors of the Ceremonial Guard work hard to master. Finally, the Sailors enjoyed a lunch provided by the USO.

"It's crazy because we started off with a very emotional video that really makes you appreciate what the USNCG does," said Daniel Bryan, WWE Superstar. "To see the incredible performances that we saw and for us to try them and fail miserably at every single one of them really shows you the hard work and dedication that these people have and how important it is."

The Sailors of the USNCG were excited by the opportunity to see and interact with the WWE Superstars whom they typically only see on TV.

"It was awesome, I can't think of any other words to say other than it was awesome to have them here," said Seaman Terrance Litton, a casket bearer for the USNCG. "It's cool to see them on TV but to have them come here and say thank you for your service is a completely different thing."

The Guardsmen, many of whom grew up watching WWE, provided demonstrations for the WWE Superstars.

"I'm a huge fan," said Litton. "All the wrestlers I watched when I was growing up aren't wrestling anymore and if they are, they are doing things other than wrestling. But it's cool to see some of the new wrestlers coming up, so you can pick new favorites. It's crazy to have them come to your work to visit you because of what you do."

The visit concluded with a meet and greet where the Guardsmen were able to get autographs as well as photographs with the WWE Superstars.

"I have a Roman Reigns action figure that I got signed as a gift for a friend back home," said Litton. "The last time I went to a WWE event I got him to sign something else, so this is going to be a Christmas gift for her."

Daniel Bryan credited U.S. service men and women for the WWE being able to continue to perform.

"I just want to say thank you to all the men and women of our armed forces," said Bryan. "We wouldn't be able to do what we do if you guys didn't do what you do."

The Tribute to the Troops show was held at the Verizon Center in the District of Columbia and airs Dec. 14 at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on USA Network.
