Naval Branch Health Clinic (NBHC) Albany is now providing annual influenza (flu) vaccine to service members, retirees and families.

Flu vaccine is recommended by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for everyone six months of age and older, and is the first and most important step in protecting against the flu. It's also a requirement for active duty military personnel, selected reserves and health care workers.

Two kinds of flu vaccine are available. Flu mist--an intranasal vaccine that is squirted into the nose--is for healthy patients ages two to 49. The injectable vaccine (flu shot) is for people 50 and older, pregnant women (protecting mom during pregnancy and baby for up to six months after birth) and anyone with a chronic medical condition such as asthma, diabetes or emphysema.

To receive flu vaccine, patients enrolled at NBHC Albany can walk in to the Immunizations Clinic Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. No appointment needed.

To find out more about flu vaccine, contact Immunizations Clinic at 229-639-7815.

NBHC Albany is one of Naval Hospital (NH) Jacksonville's six health care facilities located across Florida and Georgia. Of its patient population--about 163,000 active and retired Sailors, Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, Guardsmen and their families--about 84,000 are enrolled with a primary care manager and Medical Home Port team at one of its facilities.
