Representatives from Navy Personnel Command's fleet engagement team will visit Naval Stations Norfolk and Oceana and Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek April 27-30 to discuss the latest personnel policies and initiatives impacting Sailors and family members attached to local commands.

"The FET briefings are provided to educate Navy leaders, Sailors and their spouses ensuring that they have the information they need to make timely and well informed career decisions," said Capt. Bruce Deshotel, head enlisted community manager. "Briefings will be held at a number of locations which can be found on the schedule posted online or by contacting your Navy counselor."

The team will discuss how changes to the Career Management System-Interactive Detailing (CMS-ID), limited directed detailing, Chief Petty Officer (CPO) Early Return to Sea, and Voluntary Sea Duty Program are all designed to ensure high-priority billets at sea are manned and how they affect communities like those in the area.

Additional briefs will focus on Navy force management initiatives including enlisted community health and recent changes to CMS-ID the web-based program enlisted Sailors use to review and apply for permanent change of station (PCS) orders.

The changes to CMS-ID are part of the Navy's coordinated effort to aggressively address gaps at sea and place Sailors with the right experience levels and skill sets into high-priority fleet billets. Detailers will fill all advertised billets each cycle so it is important that Sailors understand how this may impact them.

"One of the items Navy is looking at right now is tailoring how we look at conversions. For instance we have a real need for Navy counselors. The community is a conversion-only rating and there is a submission package requirement," said Deshotel. "If you are a Sailor in a competitive rating looking for an opportunity, this rating could be your ticket."
