Twelve locations within the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training’s domain received the fiscal year 2019 Manpower, Personnel, Training and Education Retention Excellence Award recently.
Eleven of those 12 CNATT locations are repeat winners from fiscal year 2018. The repeat winning locations are: CNATT and Naval Air Technical Training Center in Pensacola, Florida; CNATT Units in Jacksonville, Florida; Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi; Norfolk, Virginia, North Island, California; Oceana, Virginia; Whidbey Island, Washington; CNATT detachments in Atsugi, Japan; Eglin Air Force Base, Florida; Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. Naval Aviation Schools Command in Pensacola was a first-time winner of the award.
The REA recognizes commands for sustaining superior levels of military retention, recognizing superior accomplishment in their continuous retention efforts and mastery of executing the basics of Sailor career development. Chief of Naval Personnel Vice Adm. John B. Nowell, Jr. announced the winners in a Dec. 30 message.
“These commands have demonstrated flawless execution of brilliant on the basics, which is the foundation of our retention efforts,” Nowell wrote in the message, sentiments that were echoed by CNATT’s Commanding Officer Capt. Nate Schneider.
“Congratulations and well done to our recipients,” Schneider said. “Meeting retention goals is critical to retaining experience and experience equates to readiness.”
CNATT’s mission is to develop, deliver and support aviation training necessary to meet validated Fleet requirements. Its mission aligns perfectly with MyNavy HR Pillar 1, Force Development, ensuring Sailors and Marines are equipped with the specific skills they need to do their jobs and having access to career enhancement opportunities.
CNATT also is a technical training agent for the Naval Aviation Enterprise, an organization designed to sustain required current readiness and advance future warfighting capabilities at best possible cost.
