Sailors assigned to the Center for Information Warfare Training (CIWT) Det. Goodfellow Air Force Base recently helped the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen prepare meals for local residents.

One Saturday a month, staff and students dedicate six hours to preparing and serving meals at the soup kitchen run by the Trinity United Methodist Church in San Angelo, Texas. The Sailors typically prepare and serve nearly 200 meals to San Angelo residents during each visit. The preparation and cook time is usually from 8 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., depending on what meal is being prepared. Sailors also assist the kitchen with preparing desserts for the meals.

During their latest visit, the Sailors prepared and served lunch to more than 130 residents.

"The city of San Angelo is extraordinarily welcoming and supportive of military personnel," said Master Chief Cryptologic Technician (Collection) Joseph Reynolds, CIWT Det. Goodfellow’s senior enlisted advisor. "It's fantastic to have Sailors who are so dedicated to giving back to such a supportive community. I am humbled by their efforts and proud to see them lead others supporting local organizations.”

With four schoolhouse commands, two detachments and training sites throughout the United States and Japan, CIWT is recognized as Naval Education and Training Command’s top learning center for the past three years. Training over 21,000 students every year, CIWT delivers trained information warfare professionals to the Navy and joint services. CIWT also offers more than 200 courses for cryptologic technicians, intelligence specialists, information systems technicians, electronics technicians and officers in the information warfare community.
