Naval Hospital Jacksonville’s Wellness Center now provides complete body composition analysis, with more detail and faster than the Bod Pod.
“Our new body composition analyzer is a powerful tool that helps people — at all fitness levels — improve their own health and readiness,” said Misty Carman, a registered dietician at Naval Hospital Jacksonville’s Wellness Center.
In under 30 seconds, the analyzer records a comprehensive range of measurements, including muscle mass, segmental fat, visceral fat, basal metabolic rate, intracellular and extracellular body water, and phase angle (which is linked to nutritional status).
The analyzer calculates fat, muscle, bone, and water mass, in addition to weight, body mass index, and more. Patients receive a detailed report of their results.
The analyzer provides an instant analysis of a person’s health and fitness status, and monitors progress over time.
To check your body composition, just walk-in to the Wellness Center, no appointment is needed. It’s best to wear fitness clothing. To get more accurate readings users should avoid measuring after strenuous exercise, after excessive food or fluid intake, when dehydrated, or right after waking up (wait a minimum of three hours).
Services are available to all beneficiaries (active duty, retired, and families) and civilian and contract workers aboard Naval Air Station Jacksonville.
Naval Hospital Jacksonville and Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Jacksonville deliver quality health care, in an integrated system of readiness and health. NH Jacksonville includes five branch health clinics across Florida and Georgia. It serves 163,000 active-duty and retired sailors, Marines, soldiers, airmen, guardsmen, and their families, including about 83,000 patients who are enrolled with a primary care manager.
