Naval Facilities (NAVFAC) Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center (EXWC) received three awards from the Federal Lab Consortium (FLC) in three separate categories.
This year, the FLC awarded 14 winners in five categories: Outstanding Technology Development; Outstanding Partnership; Outstanding Commercialization Success; Laboratory Representative of the Year; and Technology Transfer Professional of the Year.
Cheryl Monzon, NAVFAC EXWC’s Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Program Manager, received 2019 Laboratory Representative of the Year. NAVFAC EXWC as a whole received the Outstanding Partnership Award for their collaboration with Ventura County’s Economic Development Collaboration. Lastly, Gary Anguiano, RDT&E (research, development, testing and evaluation) team lead, received Outstanding Technology Development for his Low Profile Porous Swale Storm Water Best Management Practice.
“It is a privilege to receive FLC’s Outstanding Technology Development award,” said Anguiano. “The modular porous swale technology, if proven successful, would help fill a major technology gap where other technologies are not applicable.”
Compromised of over 50 laboratories across eight western states (Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Washington), FLC Far West offers a wealth of laboratory facilities for research and development, including extra resources and programs available for businesses to utilize and benefit from.
“These awards recognize the great people and our authorities as the Navy’s newest STRL warfare center,” said Mr. Kail Macias, NAVFAC EXWC Technical Director. “Our networking with industry and academia has proven extremely beneficial when it comes to innovation and transfer of technology. I am proud to be a part of such a collaborative and professional network.”
