Naval Aviation Enterprise (NAE) leadership recognized Scott Sheridan with its Outstanding Performance Award during an NAE Air Board here Nov. 7.

Sheridan serves as the Current Readiness Aircraft and Total Force (CRTF) Data Bases Group Lead for the NAE and is responsible for the development and maintenance of 38 different databases – managing all aspects of 21 type/model/series aircraft support databases and 17 separate CRTF databases.

Sheridan was praised for his overall engagement strategy and the operational impact of his efforts. According to the letter of appreciation signed by Vice Adm. G. Dean Peters, commander, Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), Sheridan has ensured that naval aviation aircraft programs receive the highest level of maintenance and supply support.

“Scott is responsible for elevating the process of readiness analysis throughout naval aviation,” Peters said. “The NAE continues to benefit from your hard work, and each of us is appreciative of what you have done for the team.”

Sheridan said his proudest accomplishment was his development of the F/A-18 platform database because he knew it was directly helping the fleet. This database, along with others created by Sheridan and his team, facilitated numerous data calls related to mission readiness capabilities and flight line inventory. 

“I served 21 years in the Navy as an Aviation Maintenance Administrationman performing data analysis and database work,” he said. “[When I joined the NAE], it seemed overwhelming at first, but I loved the idea of developing databases to help the fleet. I felt the work was very rewarding, knowing that the databases that I develop will go to the fleet to assist them.”

Comprised of leaders partnering to pursue the best interests of naval aviation, the NAE Air Board recognizes typically one Sailor, Marine or civilian employee each month for his or her outstanding enterprise-centric contributions to naval aviation. Award winners serve as positive examples of the enterprise approach. They routinely illustrate a commitment to the NAE principles of process improvement, a willingness to challenge assumptions, a focus on effectiveness and efficiency and a commitment to the greater good of naval aviation.

Naval aviation leaders distribute the monthly NAE Outstanding Performance Award to promote a culture of cost-wise readiness.
