Training Support Center (TSC) Great Lakes’ Coalition of Sailors Against Destructive Decisions (CSADD) Sailors are collecting coats to be distributed Dec. 17.
Sponsored by the Chief Petty Officers Association, CSADD volunteers collected donations for Most Blessed Trinity Food Pantry in Waukegan. Interior Communications Electrician Seaman Kalee Bryant, president of CSADD Great Lakes, lead the member’s collection efforts.
“Many of us come from areas in the country where it is warm,” Bryant said. “I was amazed how cold it is in Great Lakes. I had to go out and purchase warm clothing and a jacket. The CSADD staff wanted to do something for those that couldn’t afford coats. With the help from the Chief Petty Officers Association, we decided to collect warm clothing for those who otherwise would go without.”
She, and others, printed posters for all TSC barracks and placed collection boxes decorated with wrapping paper and ribbons.
“We are very happy to say that we have collected over 50 coats,” said. “I am so proud of my fellow Sailors who joined us in making sure our community stays warm.”
CSADD Sailors promote positive choices and develop leadership through organizing local social networks, facilitating discussion, producing visual messages, promoting community involvement and hosting recreational events.
