The guided-missile cruiser USS Mobile Bay participated in a photographic exercise, while transiting the Arabian Sea, Dec. 14.

Along with Mobile Bay, U.S. Naval assets participating in the exercise were the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74), the amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2), the guided-missile destroyer USS Decatur (DDG 73) and the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

“The goal of this evolution is to show that the Navy can bring forces together, anywhere in the world, at any time,” said Command Master Chief Nicholas Berryman, senior enlisted advisor aboard USS Mobile Bay.

Along with the ships, the photo exercise included F/A-18E/F Super Hornets and F-35B Lightning IIs, assigned to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 211 and Strike Fighter Squadrons (VFA) 151 and 41.

“Even though we didn’t deploy together, this shows we can come together at a moments notice to perform anything the country may need us to do,” said Berryman.

The John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group, Essex Amphibious Ready Group, and 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit are conducting integrated operations in the Arabian Sea to ensure stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
