The Center for Information Warfare Training's (CIWT) financial resources management team, or N8 directorate, is crucial for the CIWT domain to successfully fulfill its mission.

The CIWT N8 team, headquartered at Naval Air Station Pensacola Corry Station, Pensacola, Florida, is comprised of 13 personnel with a combined 170 years of government, military and/or contractor financial experience. Each civilian within N8 has obtained the Department of Defense Financial Management Certification, and two are Certified Defense Financial Managers. Combined education degrees consist of five Associates degrees, five Bachelors degrees, two Masters degrees and two Executive Master of Business Administration degrees.

Recently, the team was awarded the 2017 Financial Management Purple "T" award from Naval Education and Training Command (NETC). Their efforts were instrumental in CIWT winning NETC's overall Training Excellence White "T" award for the best learning center in the Navy.

NETC's annual Training Excellence Award program recognizes commands for demonstrating superior performance for training or training support.

"It's no small feat to win this award or manage a $69 million budget that supports the CIWT domain training and developing the future technical cadre of the Navy's information warfare community," said Jacqueline Henry, CIWT's comptroller. "There's a tremendous amount of responsibility and pressure within the financial and resource management realm, and I'm extremely proud of how the entire N8 team supports the CIWT domain on a daily basis."

Overall, the N8 team's efforts directly impact a daily student enrollment average of 3,900; management and delivery of Navy and joint force training to 22,000 students annually; 1,200 military, civilian and contracted staff members; Navy Credentialing Opportunities On-Line; Language, Regional Expertise, and Culture directorate; and over 200 courses offered at four information warfare training commands, two detachments, and additional learning sites located throughout the United States and Japan.

CIWT's N8 team consists of four divisions: 1) Budget division/formulation/execution (N81); 2) Accounting / Reimbursements division (N82); 3) Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) division (N84); and 4) Policy division/time and attendance (N83).

They establish, coordinate, and maintain an integrated system of financial management aligned with the vision, mission, and goals of CIWT. Additionally, they also collect and disseminate financial data throughout the CIWT domain to effectively plan, program, and budget and execute funding in support of CIWT's mission.

"I'm exceptionally proud of all the folks on our N8 team," said Cmdr. Jeffrey Buschmann, CIWT's executive officer. "The team has ensured the optimum use of our financial resources, applied innovative solutions to changing requirements, and capitalized on opportunities - all while making it look easy."

CIWT's N8 team takes their roles in a very complex financial landscape very seriously, and this is why they continuously excel and flawlessly help deliver trained information warfare professionals to the fleet.

CIWT is one of the largest of the NETC learning centers with four schoolhouse commands, two detachments, and training sites throughout the United States and Japan. Training 22,000 students every year, CIWT delivers trained information warfare professionals to the Navy and joint services, enabling optimal performance of information warfare across the full spectrum of military operations. CIWT also offers more than 200 courses for cryptologic technicians, intelligence specialists, information systems technicians, electronics technicians and officers in the information warfare community.
