The guided-missile destroyer USS Farragut (DDG 99) departed Bodo, Norway, May 11, following a scheduled port visit.

Moored next to the French frigate Primauguet (D644), Farragut's port visit included hosting a visit and tour of the ship for U.S. Ambassador to Norway, retired Navy Rear Adm. Kenneth Braithwaite.

"Sailors aboard Farragut were proud to represent the ship and to have a chance to converse with U.S. Ambassador to Norway Kenneth Braithwaite as he toured the ship," said Farragut Command Master Chief Paulette Brock. "Displaying the capabilities of our ship and technical expertise of our Sailors to the ambassador was a great way for the crew to understand the importance of the operations we conduct."

While onboard the Farragut, Braithwaite also took time to personally congratulate Boatswain's Mate Seaman Brennan Scoggins and Damage Controlman 1st Class Shawn Mattison on receiving Blue Jacket of the Quarter and Sailor of the Year, respectively.

"Being one of the selected crew members aboard Farragut to personally meet the U.S. Ambassador to Norway was a privilege," said Scoggins. "With him having the naval background as a retired Rear Admiral and now representing our country in Norway, it was an honor and experience that I will value for the rest of my Naval career."

Farragut is currently deployed as part of the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group. With USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) as the flagship, deployed strike group units include staffs, ships and aircraft of Carrier Strike Group Eight (CSG 8), Destroyer Squadron Two Eight (DESRON 28) and Carrier Air Wing One (CVW-1); as well as Sachsen-class German Frigate FGS Hessen (F221).
