Training Support Center (TSC) Great Lakes held a frocking ceremony for five staff members who advanced to the next pay grade, June 1.

The frocking ceremony, where Sailors receive the right to wear the uniform and assume the responsibilities of their next rank, is a Navy tradition that precedes actual advancement.

Advancing as petty officers were Gas Turbine Systems Technician (Mechanical) 1st Class Shacola Gardner, Fire Controlman (Aegis) 1st Class Jeffrey Goforth, Electronics Technician 1st Class Andrew Goosey, Engineman 1st Class Kathleen Root and Fire Controlman 1st Class Dylan Watkins.

"One of the most exciting and proudest times in the Navy is seeing junior Sailors promote, accepting greater responsibility," said TSC Commanding Officer Capt. Mark Meskimen. "Our young men and women continue to impress me with their enthusiasm, professionalism and commitment to doing things right. Congratulations goes out to them on accomplishing this significant milestone in their career."

Separate ceremonies were held for TSC student Sailors who advanced to the next pay grade.
