More than 200 staff, family members and friends attended a Training Support Center (TSC) picnic, June 14.

Blue skies and warm weather greeted guests at Naval Station Great Lakes' Nunn Beach overlooking Lake Michigan.

"The importance of hosting events, such as this one, is all about building camaraderie and unit cohesion within the command," said Navy Military Training Instructor Quartermaster 1st Class Tyjuana Doyle, TSC LifeSkills instructor and chair of the command's holiday party committee. "I believe the turnout for the TSC command picnic was a true success. The weather was nice, the families enjoyed the beach and the food was great, especially the authentic jerk chicken."

The holiday party committee and TSC staff members hosted the picnic and were responsible for setup, purchase and food preparation, and fun activities for the event.

"The main goal for myself, and my committee, was to see the smiling faces and to ensure that everyone's bellies were full," Doyle said.

Staff and family feasted on grilled hot dogs, bratwurst, burgers, and chicken, as well as provided sides and desserts.

"The TSC holiday party committee did an outstanding job planning and executing the command picnic," said Capt. Mark Meskimen, commanding officer at TSC. "It was a successful morale and team-building event, the weather was awesome, and everyone had a good time. I believe it is beneficial to get together occasionally outside of work and just relax and have fun."
