Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Bahrain provided an overnight logistics support to the IWO JIMA (LHD 7) marking the first overnight port support replenishment in Bahrain, June 10.

While the ship was in port for only a few hours overnight, FLC Bahrain was able to support the ships logistics' replenishment, to include fuel and other various supplies.

FLC Bahrain's logistics support center conducted a successful delivery of 197 pallets of 9M provisions, 12 pallets of 1Q material, 14 pallets of beverages, 60 pallets of general store keeper material, 109 tri-walls of mail and 99 pieces of depot level repair retrograde. The logistics support representatives coordination of the offload of additional pallets resulted in 100 percent mission readiness for the IWO JIMA.

"Being able to assist the IWO JIMA in operation EAGER Lion has opened my eyes and help to continue develop my skills as a logistics support representative," LS2 Gabriel Kastner, NAVSUP FLC Bahrain.

Logistics Specialist 1st Class Petty Officer Alleynehamlette expertly moved supplies aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) during an overnight replenishment in port. After the completion of 9M provisions loading on board offload of non-ready for issue depot level repairable, empty containers, Defense Reutilization Management Office (DRMO) materials commenced.

"The IWO JIMA's in port visit was a great experience. This was my first time visiting a ship as a Logistics Service Representative (LSR), which gave me a chance to utilize the knowledge gained in training, as well as to learn things that are unique to ships pulling into port and my function as an LSR. Overall the IWO JIMA in port visit was and absolute success and we got the job done effectively," said Alleynehamlette, Logistics Support Representative, NAVSUP FLC Bahrain.

The Iwo Jima replenished goods during their deployment to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations to reassure allies and partners, and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
