Lt. Cmdr. Stephanie Knight relieved Cmdr. Thomas Clementson during a change of charge ceremony for Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATTU) Det. Eglin, on board Eglin Air Force Base Aug. 3.

Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATT) Commanding Officer Capt. Eric Simon presided over the ceremony with staff members, students, family and friends in attendance.

During his remarks before turning over command, Clementson thanked the CNATT Det. Eglin team for their support during his nearly two-year tour as officer in charge.

Under Clementson’s leadership, nearly 80 Navy, Marine Corps and civilian personnel delivered 55,000 hours of instruction to approximately 800 students in 13 F-35 platform-specific courses, streamlining training efforts while working with Lockheed Martin Corporation, Strike Fighter Weapons School Pacific and the Fleet Introduction Team to develop conventional weapons testing procedures and inspection criteria.

Clementson will report to aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) as the aircraft intermediate maintenance officer.

Knight, who previously served as the Naval Sea Systems Command Aviation Ship Integration manager for Ship Readiness and Sustainment, addressed the CNATT Det. Eglin staff and students for the first time as officer in charge during the ceremony.

“I am truly humbled and honored to have the opportunity to lead CNATT Det. Eglin into the next few years,” said Knight. “We are developing a curriculum and training methods which will be used in ensuring our maintainers are ready to work on one of the most advanced aircraft the world has ever known, and I’m excited for what we will accomplish as a team.”

Knight, a native of Spring Green, Wisconsin, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2001 as an aviation maintenance administrationman. She was commissioned through Officer Candidate School in 2007 and holds a Master of Arts in workforce education and development.

CNATT Det. Eglin develops, delivers and supports aviation technical training necessary to sustain the fifth generation F-35 Joint Strike Fighters and is a part of CNATT.

CNATT is the technical training agent for the Naval Aviation Enterprise (NAE), an organization designed to advance and sustain naval aviation warfighting capabilities at an affordable cost under Naval Education and Training Command.
