Cryptologic Warfare Group (CWG) 6 stood up three new commands, Cryptologic Warfare Activities (CWA) 65, 66 and 67, during a ceremony at McGill Training Center, Aug. 10.

“As we close the final chapter in our reorganization, and the last vestiges of the former Navy Information Operations Command Maryland, I am confident that the next chapter is extremely bright,” said Capt. Joe J. Johnson, commander of CWG-6.  “I am thrilled to have Cmdr. Mark Boggis, Cmdr. Joey Harrison, and Cmdr. Will Wilson assume their commands today.”

CWG-6 is executing this establishment action to enable a more direct span of control over cyber warfare, and it anticipates these changes will result in robust execution of fleet and national missions.

“To stay ahead of our adversaries in this strategic environment, or, as we say in the military planning world, ‘stay left’ of our strategic competitors, we must be organized correctly to take advantage of our information-related capabilities in an integrated fashion, so we can make decisions faster and better than the adversary,” said Vice Adm. Timothy “T.J.” White, commander, U.S. Fleet Cyber Command/U.S. 10th Fleet (FCC/C10F).

“These new commands will optimize the Navy’s resources to provide a ready force to our interagency partners, maximize the employment of Sailors across the agency, and finally, they will increase CWG-6’s overall agility, resilience and potential for innovation.,” White said.

“I'm immensely proud and humbled to stand before you to represent the Sailors of CWA-67,” said Cmdr. Will Wilson, commanding officer of CWA-67, “and I am proud to say we provide and deploy ready Sailors to execute global information warfare missions in support of the U.S. Navy.”

CWG-6’s primary mission is to deliver information warfare capabilities to the Navy by providing and deploying trained Sailors, expertise, and equipment to support signals intelligence and cyberspace operations for naval and joint forces.
