The Center for Information Warfare Training’s (CIWT) Commanding Officer Capt. Nick Andrews visited CIWT Detachment Fort Gordon for the first time, Aug. 14, since taking command in late May. Andrews met with CIWT Det. Fort Gordon staff and toured the det. and training spaces around the installation. He was formally briefed on det. operations and current organizational structure. He subsequently addressed the staff and discussed the plan to reform and bolster information warfare training. “I have talked with many of the folks here at Fort Gordon and discussed the importance of what we do here to support the fleet,” said Andrews. “I met with Capt. Count in Bahrain and we discussed the direct support mission to include the training we provide to that mission. It is very important that we get that right. We need to deliver training that is data driven, and remain nimble enough to change with what the fleet demands.” Andrews answered the staff’s many questions about the future of the CIWT domain. One staff member asked him what his number one concern was within the domain. “Alignment is my number one priority right now,” shared Andrews. “With all the recent reorganization of the information warfare community and the CIWT domain, we need to ensure we are staying aligned with the needs of our customers.” The Center for Information Warfare Training delivers trained information warfare professionals to the Navy and joint services, enabling optimal performance of information warfare across the full spectrum of military operations.
