Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Southeast awarded a more than $22.7 million contract Jan. 31 to Pensacola Bay Support Services, LLC of Cape Canaveral, Florida, for Base Operating Support (BOS) services at Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola, Florida.

The award includes a base period and seven option years that could bring the value of the contract in excess of $182 million.

"Pensacola Bay Support Services, LLC was chosen using the Best Value Source Selection procurement method," said NAVFAC Southeast Contracting Officer Nicole Wilhelm. "The objective was selection of a contractor whose overall proposal demonstrated the best value to the Government based on the stated criteria, not necessarily the lowest price. We received nine proposals for this contract and Pensacola Bay Support Services LLC was evaluated as the best value."

The work to be performed under the contract includes port operations, facility management, facility investment, pavement clearance, utilities management, electrical, gas, wastewater, steam, water, chiller plant, base support vehicles and equipment, environmental and all labor, supervision, management, materials, tools, equipment, facilities, transportation, and incidental engineering necessary to perform those services.

Work is expected to be completed by March 2019.

NAS Pensacola, situated in Escambia County, employs more than 17,000 military and 6,000 civilian personnel. This includes major tenant commands: Naval Aviation Schools Command, Naval Air Technical Training Center, Marine Aviation Training Support Group 21 and 23, the Blue Angels, and the headquarters for Naval Education Training Command, a command which combines direction and control of all Navy education and training.
