Did you run out of shows to watch on Netflix? Are you tired of listening to your roommate play Fortnite all night? Have you just arrived in Bremerton and have no idea what to do around here?
Did you run out of shows to watch on Netflix? Are you tired of listening to your roommate play Fortnite all night? Have you just arrived in Bremerton and have no idea what to do around here? Well your Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) division has the answer for you!

MWR provides the Sailors of the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) free or discounted recreational programs, tickets to movies, shows and concerts all around Bremerton and surrounding areas.

There is an abundance of fun and athletic ways for Sailors to spend their down time, including MWR activities and programs offered through community recreation and the sports, fitness and aquatics departments.

The base recreational center is furnished with video game consoles, table tennis, billiards tables, a sound proof music room equipped with instruments, movie room and a bowling alley. If this still isn't your cup of tea, Sailors can join intramural sports leagues, sign up for a marathon or even enter in weight lifting competitions.

For those Sailors worrying about conflicts in schedule, MWR has you covered, organizing trips and events for Sailors and their families. They coordinate game nights, themed bowling nights and arts and crafts activities, such as Paint and Sip. Paint and Sip is an event dedicated to painting while sipping on adult beverages, or sodas for those who are not of age. They also organize day and weekend camping trips, as well as outings and attractions in nearby big cities like Seattle and Portland, Oregon.

"We understand that Sailors have weekend duty and schedules that may not align with the events we have scheduled," said Naval Base Kitsap MWR Operations Lead and Ticket Manager Ross Price. "For those Sailors who can't make a specific white water rafting trip or whatever weekend trip we have scheduled; they can always use our Design a Trip program."

Design a Trip is a program that allows Sailors to tailor a trip on their own schedule. Whether you want to go whitewater rafting, snowboarding or want to visit a nearby national park, MWR can provide the perfect trip.

For tickets to concerts and sporting events, Sailors have to travel no further than the designated MWR space aboard Nimitz.

"We sell tickets to all kinds of shows and genres," said Ship's Serviceman 2nd Class James Yzaguirre, from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and a member of the MWR team aboard Nimitz. "We understand that Sailors get bored on their down time and what we want to do is combat that boredom with fun events that help keep Sailors out of trouble."

Events include concerts to see artists like Katy Perry, Lorde, Chris Young and many more. In addition to music concerts, MWR also has tickets to comedy shows like Jeff Dunham and Broadway plays like Hamilton. They will also be providing tickets to Mariners, Sounders and Raineer games when the upcoming seasons start.

On average, Yzaguirre says that the tickets sold through MWR are about 40 percent less expensive compared to other outside vendors; an ideal value for Sailors on a budget.

To make the most of your time stationed in Washington, make sure to visit the MWR team aboard Nimitz or the recreation center on base for more information. You can also check schedules and upcoming events online at navylifepnw.com or visit them on Facebook at facebook.com/KitsapFFR.

Nimitz is currently preparing for a docking- planned incremental availability at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility where the ship will receive scheduled maintenance and upgrades.
