Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) understands that a workforce made up of different backgrounds, experiences and ethnicities only adds to the success of an organization.

CNIC team members took that message to a career fair at Trinity Washington University in Washington, D.C., Nov. 1.

"CNIC is very committed to promoting diversity and inclusion," said Hope Balamani, the command's enterprise diversity and inclusion manager. "We are a very diverse organization. When you look at it, we are a global organization with different sectors. We have a civilian sector, military sector and we also have a Navy sector."

Balamani, who recently graduated from Trinity Washington University, reached out to her alma mater with the intent to inspire students of the possibilities of being a part of an organization that fosters a diverse workforce.

"I would love to just show my gratitude and show my appreciation for CNIC,' said Dr. China Wilson, Trinity Washington's director of career services. "It's so important that we have the community come together in a way that not only supports our students, but supports our missions and the things that we do that affect our world."

Other CNIC personnel who supported the outreach event included Vincent Patterson, director of equal employment opportunity and command deputy equal employment opportunity officer, as well as Josie Dristy, CNIC's general counsel.

Navy Installations Command is comprised of approximately 53,000 military and civilian personnel worldwide responsible for the operations, maintenance and quality of life programs to support the Navy's fleet, fighters and their families.
