The Secretary of the Navy recognized the Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD) Fisher House yesterday as among the "best of the best" in lodging operations.

The NMCSD Fisher House was one of 14 Navy Gateway Inns & Suites, and Fisher House activities that received this year's 2017 Admiral Elmo R. Zumwalt Award.

Named after the 19th Chief of Naval Operations, the award recognizes lodging facilities for exceeding the highest standards of excellence in the areas of management, facilities, finance and customer service, according to yesterday's announcement released by Secretary of the Navy, Richard V. Spencer, via ALNAV message.
