Hospitalman Alexander Joseph Sevier, assigned to Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, was declared a missing person by Yosemite National Park representatives May 6.

He was last seen May 3 at a park store before embarking on a hike from which he has not returned.

"Our thoughts and prayers remain focused on Hospitalman Sevier and his family as the search continues," said Capt. Christopher Culp, Naval Medical Center Portsmouth commanding officer. "We remain hopeful he will return home safely."
