If you ever wished that you could see what it's like to live the adventurous life of a United States sailor, look no further than the Navy "Nimitz" Experience tour.
If you ever wished that you could see what it's like to live the adventurous life of a United States sailor, look no further than the Navy "Nimitz" Experience tour. At Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, hundreds of Blues Angels airshow attendees got a 360-degree virtual reality view of what it's like to be on a Special Warfare Combatant-Craft crewmen (SWCC) mission in America's Navy.

The state of the art Navy "Nimitz" Experience gave one high school student a first-hand look at what it's like to serve in the Navy and piqued his interest in joining.

"It was pretty cool," said the 17-year old high school Junior. "I am interested in joining the military. I'm trying to narrow down my choices. I haven't decided what [military] branch I want to join yet, but this [Navy "Nimitz" Experience] gives me a better idea about what the Navy has to offer."

The tour can also help people take the first steps in the exciting process of joining the Navy. When registering for the tour, people who are interested in joining the Navy can submit their contact information at the tour kiosk and request to contacted by a Navy recruiter.

"I loved the Navy "Nimitz" Experience", says Petty Officer 2nd Class Antiuan Barton. "The high school students can really engage with the technology. It's like a videogame for them. I spoke to a few of them and they said it made them feel like they are already part of the Navy. The applicants who I'm working with loved it."

In addition to the virtual reality mission, the tour includes a photo booth and a pull-up challenge. Pull-up challenge participants compete with other airshow attendees to gain bragging rights for doing the most pull-ups. The names of pull-up challenge participants are displayed on a digital leader board.

The Navy "Nimitz" Experience tour may be coming to a city near you. Check your local listings for upcoming Airshows or ask your local Navy recruiter when the tour will be in an area near you.
